Robin Hood for a new generation
My expectations were low for this film, but it was really very good.
Fair warning, if you only enjoy movies about legends and medieval settings that are 100% historically accurate then you are simply going to hate this movie.
Sorry, it cannot be helped.
Move along, move along, there is nothing to see here for you.
For those of you that enjoy a romp outside firmly bounded, scripted interpretations of legendary themes, press on!
"Beyond Sherwood Forest" is a play on the traditional Robin Hood tale, except that Robin's father is killed by Malcolm (played by Julian Sands) while the Sheriff and his men are out hunting a dragon.

Julian Sands does a fantastic job as the evil Sheriff of Nottingham. What Sands does with a glance would take many actors three pages of...
12th Century "Sanctuary"
I watched this on the SYFY Channel and wasn't expecting anything profound. I was correct in that assessment but I found in quite enjoyable nonetheless.
Although I didn't care for the killing off of Friar Tuck I thought it had its interesting takes on the Robin Hood mythos. Robin Dunne was adequate as Robin of Locksley and Erica Durance made an adventurous Marian.
I think a larger budget could have made the scenery more convincing but I understand in this day that money is tight.
Over all, i was satisfied with this made for TV straight to DVD movie.
Silly fun
This SciFi Channel version of the Robin Hood tale is silly and cheesy, but fun nonetheless. My first thought while watching this movie was "Why?" However, I found myself stuck to the end. True blue to it's TV fantasy, B movie genre, the effects are cheesy, the dialogue is fluff and the story is utterly unbelievable. If you are looking for an evening of quality entertainment walk away, but for a mindless guilty pleasure, look no further. Shh I won't tell.
