Army Wives: The Complete Third Season

Army wives and their families....................
I decided to not put off preordering Season 3. I know it's going to be a fantastic addition to the first 2 seasons. I can't remember any series that I've enjoyed more then Army Wives. You don't know from week to week what's going to happen next. The acting by all the cast is superb. Who ever did the casting did a fabulous job and the chemistry is strong.

I'm very anxious for Series 4 to start on Sunday, April 11th at 10:00 pm EST. ( I got that off the official website ) and my DVR is already programmed.

[...]

If you haven't purchased the first 2 seasons yet I have one question: What are you waiting for? They are worth every penny.

One of the best shows
I own the first two seasons and have watched the third on Lifetime. It is a great show and this season was just as good as the first two seasons. It is however a few episodes shorter than the last. This seasons finale has to be one of the biggest cliff hangers that I've seen and I can't wait until June for the new season to start. I originally got hooked on this show because of my boyfriend and have watched it religiously ever since. I now have got my mother and my brother-in-law hooked on this show as well.

Army Wives (Season 3)
Having a son in the Army, this show hits close to home! My daughter-in-law and I discuss each episode and also try to figure out the up coming episodes! It is about as true to life as entertainment can allow! I think it is one of the best shows on TV today. They had talked of canceling the show but apparently the "fans" of the show wouldn't hold still for that! One finds themselves feeling like a member of the family in this show. You laugh, cry, worry, do all the things with them that any military family does. If anyone wants to have a glimpse of military life, this is a great way to experience it for yourself! Thanks to my son and his wife, I now own every season of "Army Wives"! It was my Christmas present amd I couldn't have wished for anything better! I don't know what else to say about "Army Wives" but that, to me, it is the best show out there at this time.
It shows life on the Army base called Ft. Marshall! There are 5 families, each with the military person a...

Couples Retreat [Blu-ray]

Not the Chick-flick You're expecting
This movie was not only funny, it was sweet and a visual treat with a good moral. That in itself is reason enough to watch it, in this day of selfishness and disrespect for marriage. It was a fun ride. Some near nudity, a man's butt was exposed for a moment but that's all. Nudity is implied at that point but it's for a funny reason and shows nothing else. No sexual implications at that time either.

Four couples take a trip to help one of the couples get some help for what they believe is their failing marriage. The other couples are just along for the ride but the tables are turned on them when they are told there is no free ride at this retreat. You either work on your relationship or you go home. Thinking they can just skate into and out of each "session" and then get back to the fun because their relationships don't need any work, the other three couples say surprising things to "fill in the time" and make it appear that they're living up to their end of the...

Good movie
This is a funny movie about four couples going on a retreat. One couple went to fix their marriage. The other three couples were tricked into going. They thought it was going to be a lot of free fun. But after their first day they found out they had to fallow the program to fixing their marriage in order to stay. Fixing a marriage that they didn't know needed fixing. There is a lot of fun and laughs in this movie. But I just think the ending could have been better. It kind of sucked.

One of our favorite movies of all time
Great comedy. And oh, the beautiful, beautiful Bora Bora. A classic romantic comedy. We watch this regularly. Highly recommend owning a copy!

The Time Traveler's Wife [Blu-ray]

Great movie!
Review from my wife: It was so compelling and well done, and both my husband and I enjoyed this movie tremendously. The story line was intersting, the characters were really well developed and you really care about them. The acting was excellent, and we found ourselves really pulled in throughout the entire movie.

Contrary to some of the reviews I read, this movie was easy to follow. I don't understand what the problem was. I had never read the book, yet it was completely clear what was going on. I don't get why anyone would have had a problem. Also, there was nothing strange or wrong about the traveller visiting the younger version of his love interest. It was very innocent. One reviewer's mention that there was no plausible explanation for the lead's time travel abilities doesn't make sense to me. There was a very sufficient and even detailed explanation given in the movie. Keep in mind that we're dealing with a fiction scifi story here, and it was plenty adequate. I...

Great Love Story but Sad as with many love stories.
I thought this was a great love story. Obviously you had to accept Time Travel as an affliction like any other debilitating condition because that is how it is portrayed in this movie. But the love shown between the main characters transcended the actual affliction. The movie was about a love so great that for the two to experience it even if for a short time was worth the sadness that later occurs. I thought both actors portrayed the deep love of the characters quite well. For those that have never seen or had that type of love in their life it can be hard to imagine and accept.

If you do not like deep love stories then skip the movie. If you cannot accept or overlook the time travel metaphor then skip the movie. If you nitpick about every minor detail requiring that they be 100% correct then skip this movie. If on the other hand, you want to see what true love is, you might like this movie. If you like What If movies with love as a central theme then you might like this...

Here You Leave Today and Enter a World of Yesterday and Tomorrow
While the story for "The Time Traveler's Wife" is not at all interested in plausibility or logic, it is interested in making an emotional connection with the audience, and so it does. Make no mistake--this adaptation of Audrey Niffenegger's novel is about as preposterous as it gets, telling the story of a man who can go back and forth through time but lacks the ability to control when he goes and for how long he'll be gone. There's no adequate explanation for his condition, and maybe it's for the best; this a love story, after all, not a supernatural commentary on evolution or expanded consciousness. Besides, if you were to stop for a moment and really think about the idea, the inevitable questions will eventually be so numerous that you'll end up with a headache. For this particular story, you'll be much better off just blindly buying into the premise.

Only then will it be possible to appreciate the more engaging aspects of the story, the most obvious being the romance...

Law Abiding Citizen

Clever, Entertaining Thriller
"Law Abiding Citizen," the new thriller with Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx, is an interesting revenge thriller that takes the viewer to some unexpected places and provokes thoughtful conversations and introspection. Regardless of any drawbacks that the film may have, and it is certainly not perfect, it makes valid points about the sometimes arbitrary nature of the criminal justice system.

Gerard Butler stars as an engineer whose seemingly peaceful life is shattered when two men break into his house, injure him, and kill his wife and daughter. Grieving, but obviously believing that his case is clear cut, he is stunned when the young assistant DA prosecuting the case, played by Jamie Foxx, makes a deal that allows a reduced sentence for the killer of the wife and child in exchange for his testimony against the other man.

Ten years later, as the man convicted of murder is facing lethal injection, Butler's long-planned revenge plot begins to unfold. We find out that...

Law A-breaking Citizen
SOME SPOILERS IN HERE BUT NOT REALLY I love a good revenge movie! And this is one! Good story and an interesting M-O. I loved the idea for this movie. It chose a controvertial topic and really ran with it. The judicial system has been known to have its flaws and sometimes if people want justice they have to take it. A man (Gerard Butler) goes ape s*** for ohhhhh ten years plotting and scheming over the death of his family. Hell bent on his lack of justice after the main culprit of his family's death gets a ridiculous plea bargain. Well, this man decides to enact revenge not just on the killers, but on the whole judicial system. Because, you see, he is a war device inventing genius who has been helping the special forces for years. Sweet! Action thus ensues and you are left wondering, how the hell is he doing this stuff. Well you gotta watch to get this little tidbit. There have been complaints about the ending and while it is tough to make a truely satisfying ending to a movie that...

A Great Movie!
Clyde Shelton is a law abiding family man, and inventor. After his wife and child are brutally murdered an up and coming lawyer hands out a deal to the killer in exchange for his accomplice. Clyde isn't happy about the way the "justice system" functions. Like many of us Clyde wants to right the wrongs in our flawed legal system. He proceeds to track down and kill the man that killed his family. After being put in jail, Clyde starts killing many of the others involved in the court case. The judge and the criminal defense attorney are among his victims. The problem is that he is in jail. It's hard to commit murder when you're locked up. He is pulling it off somehow. His former lawyer, Nick Rice, is determined to bring him to justice. He learns how hard it will be after he finds out that Clyde was a CIA tactician and inventor.

This movie blew me away. The acting, story, and soundtrack are all amazing. This film has action, drama, suspense, and comedy. It's pretty well rounded,...

Fraggle Rock: Wembley's Egg Surprise

Great show - but get the newer complete set
Recently, I was clearing my parents house out and found a box of old toys, including a bunch of Fraggle dolls that I had as a kid. When I mentioned this to my sister, she said she heard that Fraggles were making a comeback with a new movie coming out. Sure enough, when I checked Amazon, the complete series was available. It was such a joy to see this again. This is a great show for kids (or nostalgic adults). The puppetry is great. The show is very musical, but the songs (by and large) aren't corny or annoying. Some of them are actually a bit tender. The episodes often deal with themes like prejudice and the environment.

That being said, I'd recommend getting the newer Fraggle Rock: Complete Series Collection DVD set. It has the complete series (as opposed to just a few episodes as on this product). For the price, it's a steal. I hope you enjoy your time "down in Fraggle Rock"!

A Dangerous Man

Steven Seagal plus Russian Mob against Chinese = Killing
I'm a big huge fan of Steven Seagal. I mean I had all his movies (maybe I have some that He does not have in his own collection). Steven Seagal is at the wrong place at the wrong time and for that He is going to kill a lot of people. This movie is full of killing and action. Any action movie fan should see this. I really enjoyed. Actually the movie makes sense and is really good. The last movies of Steven Seagal were really bad, but this one and The keeper are getting our action hero back in the field. If you like Steven Seagal you should buy it. You won't regret.

"It means your mama won't be able to recognize you in your coffin"-actual Seagal quote
Over the past few years Steven Seagal has become more of a walking punchline then the renowned action powerhouse he used to be known as. His movie had hit the bottom of the barrel in a way you could barely get through the entire thing without a finger on the fast forward button. However our beloved Seagal is showing signs of greatness yet again as he appears to be pulling a 180 in the a-- kicking department. Where we last left him was with his film The Keeper where we got a taste of a supremely entertaining entry and thought it to be more of a fluke, but were proven very wrong. Hey we're not ashamed to admit it, even we make mistakes from time to time. A Dangerous Man (aka A Nice Mix) is definitive proof that Seagal still has a little something left under his sleeve. Not to mention a new catch phrase with the term "F--- you up ugly" which he utters a couple times as a warning before he has to take you down...

quicker pace, a bit more relevant
Before you watch a Seagal movie, you gotta know why he keeps making them. He wants to be known as a good writer, and bring awareness of injustices in modern society. Keeping that in mind, I find it admirable he would tackle wrongful incarceration in a movie role. Moreso, he did it fairly well. Yeah, he stays pissed the whole film. Wouldn't you if you were put in jail for 6 years for something you didn't do? And in trying to do the right thing, he was still haunted/jaded and therefore acted like a bad guy - hell he even teamed up with a bunch of 'em (russians). I'm a huge fan of asian culture, and it was nice to see that plotline in there with the mercenaries. And for the first time in quite a while I actually recognized many other actors, though they weren't very high profile. Just a "hey, I've seen that guy/girl before!". It made the film seem more familiar and current - which Seagal has to do to bring in a new decade of 50 more movies or so haha. Some diss it, but I like the...

Girl's High Complete Slimpack

Girl's High
This is funny, delightful and deals with serious and other matters thought to be serious that are common with teen aged girls everywhere as they stuggle to both understand and to be part of the "mature" world, however defined, all the time trying to enjoy the journey from middle school students to adulthood. The fan service is primarly in the first and second episodes with very little after that. This series doesn't need it beyond that to keep one entertained, and enlightened. The art work and dancing done by the girls between the episodes adds greatly to the series and is some of the best artwork of the series. Issues such as "first love", preditory sexual aggression, sibling rivalry, egocentric teachers, comradery, interschool competition and misconceptions are all dealt with in manners that even if it doesn't enlighten you the attempt to do so will probably entertain. Well worth the time and meager investment.

thanks
i think that this is a great show, i got it for my friend and they love it
thank you !!

this anime is decent, but it could've been funnier/better.
This anime is decent, it's problems are that it could've had more funny moments and volume 2 of it has bad episodes. This anime is not too bad despite its flaws. 8/10

Cannon: Season Two, Vol 1 & 2

Cannon Season two vol 1&2 review
Oh how I enjoyed the Quinn Martin produced shows of the sixties and seventies. Cannon was no exception. William Conrad, before Cannon, was a CBS employee for many years. The voice of Matt Dillon on the radio version of Gunsmoke, and narrator of "The Fugitive," CBS promised Conrad his own series, on TV. Conrad was a big man, and hollywood, with it's obsession with thin and beautiful, stepped out of it's obsession with Cannon. Season 2 was fun to watch. Some of the era's best stars were on the show. The Lincoln Mk 4 Cannon drove, and his mobile car phone were fun to watch as well. This show was nominated for emmys, and was no slouch.

The only things that would make it a little better, would be commentary by say, some guest stars or someone significantly connected with the show. I know this is difficult, since most of them have passed on. William Conrad died in 1994. I also wish that CBS would release the series by seasons rather than volumes. The quality of the DVDs is good,...

Cannon Season Two, Vol 1 & 2
Cannon Season 2 was very interesting to watch. I always liked William Conrad and each episode had interesting plots. I'll always remember this show.

Its not Perry Mason or Ironside but they are good. I hooked on Castle too!!!as you can tell. Is season 5 out yet???

Dragon Ball Z: Dragon Box Two

Thank you once again, FUNimation
This DBZ Dragon Box series is an exciting thing. I've been a fan of DBZ since I first saw it on syndicated television in the mid to late '90s. (You could say I was a fan of the series even earlier, about '95 or '96 or so, since I also watched the first thirteen episodes of Dragon Ball when that first aired in the States.)

Ever since becoming a fan of DBZ and having just around that time discovered the Internet, I searched for the series on Yahoo! and came up with a website which displayed many of the changes made in the US--all of the censorship, reworked music, and all of that. Since then, I've been clamoring for Dragon Ball Z, uncut and subbed with the original music.

I thought FUNimation were going to deliver with the season sets they released a few years ago, but they botched the job entirely by "remastering" the video in the most awful way imaginable: in addition to the drastically cropped framing (to create a faux-widescreen ratio--I'm BIG on original...

Some people need to understand something
Okay, we all know that the dub score isn't on this set. I am just as disappointed as other dub fans, but you have to understand, Funi is aiming these sets at another audience for once and wants to preserve quality. So just shut up and accept it instead of giving 1-star reviews to a product that wasn't meant for you in the first place. I don't necessarily agree with Funi's decisions and would rather have a release that satisfies all audiences, but regardless, we've been catered to for years so we should let the fans of the Japanese version have a release they can be proud of. We're lucky we got a dub in the first place as Funi made this release so that fans of the Japanese version can just watch the show as it was meant to be seen.

(btw, this is jjgp1112, daizex users)

The Greatest dragon ball Z release ever!
I used to be one of those individuals that would criticized the dragon box because of the lack of Bruce Faulconer music and because the price was significantly higher. Since I'm a fan of the series I couldn't help myself and I found my self pre-ordering the first Dragon Box to find out what the big deal was. I knew deep down that I wasn't gonna be to happy with the Japanese music.

Once I received the box I realized how incredibly well packaged everything comes. It already made the orange bricks look cheap and I had yet to open the box. The dragon box was about the size of two orange bricks (remastered sets) and the smaller boxes inside were beautifully build. The booklet that's included with the set is very handy when watching the episodes and its hardcover and not held together with a single staple like in the orange bricks.

The quality of the video is superb, its near perfect and the colors are beautiful. I found my self looking at all the vivid colors and...

Barnaby Jones: The Complete First Season

Not a Millionaire Anymore, a Private Detective!
For the first time, fan favorite Barnaby Jones is coming to DVD in a boxed set collecting the first season of the Classic TV detective series.

After years of fans wanting and waiting, our patience has finally been rewarded! This 662-minute DVD set brings all 13 the episodes as originally broadcast, in full screen video and English mono sound. They are also closed captioned. It's being released by CBS/Paramount, and while I've not yet seen the set, it's reportedly been carefully remastered, and contains all of the original musical cues.

Buddy "Beverly Hillbillies" Ebsen plays the tile role, while Lee "Batman, Time Tunnel" Meriwether portrays his daughter-in-law, Betty Jones. Barnaby heads his LA firm, while Betty provides him with invaluable assistance.

The Classic TV detective series aired on CBS from Jan. 28, 1973, to April 3, 1980. It premiered as a midseason replacement show, shaking up the CBS lineup by taking the timeslot of the Iconic Classic TV...

Another TV classic...
Take away the jerky camera movements, the MTV style pacing, the overt sexuality and the special effects that not only show a person getting shot, but follow the bullet through the body, and what do today's detective shows have? Nothing. Shows like Barnaby Jones had stories, and the people who made the shows knew how to tell the story.
When I was a kid, shows like Barnaby Jones were the grown up shows you loved to be able to stay up to watch. Now, grown up shows border on the perverse. In the 70's, my sainted mom and dad took us to visit Cooperstown, New York. It was a treat to be able to stay up late and watch a show like Barnaby Jones, while nibbling on Chicken in a Bisquet crackers (back then, that was one of the unusual crackers. Now, there's a million varieties). Now that my wife bought me the DVD from Amazon, I intend to watch Barnaby Jones, savoring not just the nostalgia, but the quality. I already have a box of Chicken in a Bisquet crackers to nibble on during...

a role model for senior citizens . . . Barnaby Jones just can't miss . . .
Buddy Ebsen played Jed Clampett for nine seasons on The Beverly Hillbillies (1962 through 1971). Anyone familiar with the series' theme song, The Ballad of Jed Clampett, is probably aware that Jed struck oil on his property while out hunting, became a millionaire, and moved with his family to Beverly Hills. Ebsen, who up to this time, was mostly known for his dancing skills, played the grizzled, humble, and down to Earth mountain man, who was completely clueless, and out of his element in the big city. While Jed was ignorant about some things, he was wise in others, honest as the day was long, and also one hell of a shot with a gun. As the Clampett clan's moral conscience, Jed taught life lessons, and tried to show that doing what was right and fair, was the way to go.

Ebsen was 62, when The Beverly Hillbillies ended, but he was far from ready to hang it up. Crime shows were very popular, and in 1973 Ebsen made his debut as investigator Barnaby Jones on Quinn Martin's...

Barney: Let's Go to the Farm

The Best so far
We got it from the Library last week and I haven't been able to return it yet! I think it's been played 100 times already(seems like it anyway) My DD who hasn't been talking a whole lot - all of a sudden is saying "FARM, FARM" asking for it by name.

What more could you ask for?

This Barney takes you outside the usual playhouse and people. You get to visit different places at a real farm. See lots & lots of real animal footage. And lots of different animals. (Unlike the Zoo DVD which only seems to have a few). And real people - grownups. Holds my attention better than any other Barney movie out there and I don't like Barney too much.

Has lots of Nursery Rhymes related to the the animals.

Baa Baa Black Sheep

Little Boy Blue

Little Bo Peep

Turkey in the Straw, etc.

Love it.

Barney was not allowed - Grams forced it on us - thought he had ADD
My son is 17 months and now has 5 barney vids and maybe A.D.D. Let me tell you he does not like any of them as much as this one. He is in a trance when this one is on, he loves it so much. This vid has some better production and songs than the others I have seen. I was not going to allow the big purple guy in the house but the vids seem harmless enough (my mother actually gave this as a gift). He will sit thru the ENTIRE video without budging. He giggles when I put it in and my son hates TV!!!!

Overall a 5 star rating for a kid that had trouble doing something for more than 5 minutes.

Our first Barney
This was the first Barney video that I purchased for my granddaughter. She had been watching the Baby Einstein videos, but as soon as she saw this Barney video, she was hooked. I might as well throw out the Wiggles and Baby Einstein videos. It has to be the big purple guy or nothing. The only complaint my family has is that we have these songs trapped in our heads all day and even hear them in our sleep!

Coco Before Chanel

I Didn't Know Chanel From Shinola...
I'm a guy. Okay. Let's get that out of the bag right now. I'm not overly fond of what I wear. Blue jeans and a t-shirt suit me just fine for most occasions. So when my wife wanted me to watch a foreign film about some gal named "Chanel" who was a famous clothes designer, I felt like I was in for an early bedtime (I can easily fall asleep during boring films).

So we slipped the DVD in and proceeded to watch what I assumed would be an incredibly monotonous film about a lady making clothing. I could hear my wife already: "Oooh. Isn't that beautiful." Or "Look how well she hemmed that pinafore" (whatever the hell a pinafore is ...and can you hem it? I still don't know).

But, much to my surprise, the film was more a myopic on the early life of Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel. Hence the name Coco BEFORE Chanel. Duh. Guess I should've paid better attention to the title.

There's certainly information and dress-wear visuals throughout, but the movie is more honed...

slow, subtle and absolutely beautiful
Coco Before Chanel is aptly titled; it follows Coco Chanel from her time in an orphanage, but it stops where most people become familiar with her story. The film stars the delightful Audrey Tatou as Coco. Perhaps my favorite thing about Coco Before Chanel was it's honesty. I confess to loving the feel-good rags to riches biopics as much as anyone, but it's rare to see a biographical film provide hope with honesty and without sappiness. Most of the film is not feel good. It's hardly depressing, but it is real. Coco didn't have an easy life. She and her sister were orphans, and they fought for opportunities. Coco makes some decisions she may not be proud of, but she doesn't regret them. She doesn't have the dream of becoming a fashion designer from day one, just as few of us truly know what we'll end up doing from the beginning. Her skills, experience and desire for self-sufficiency slowly evolve to lead her to it.

The film is a little slow, but it's similar to the pace of...

loved it
This film about Coco Chanel in her early years is a delight to see. The cinematography is beautiful, the musical score romantic, the actors make the characters come to life. This film is more about her early relationships and first love and her non-conformistic view on fashion and independence. I loved every minute of it. Audrey Tautou is wonderful as Coco. Alessandro Nivola is a captivating Boy Chapel and Benoit Poelvoorde is a great cast as Balsan.

Small Wonder: The Complete First Season

If you realse it on DVD...People will buy it
Small Wonder is a goldmine waiting to make the company who releases it on DVD money. The children who grew up watching it are now the adults who would spend money to buy it. Small Wonder ellicits a strong feeling of nostalgia and the mention of the shows name brings back happy memories of days without mortgages, bills, jobs, and the real world. I'm willing to spend money to feel that way again, and I think the Small Wonder DVDs can be a bridge to those happier times.

Small Wonder is: Classic '80s Comfort TV
As a huge fan of "Small Wonder", '80s TV and just silly family sitcoms in general I can't tell you how excited I am to have the Season 1 DVD set of this classic series.

"Small Wonder" revolved around the Lawson Family and Vicki; a Voice Input Child Identicant that was raised as a child. Vicki could get into mischief every once in a while which ended up being very funny only because it was so foolish. Also the series included lots of talented special effects which rarely (if ever) have been seen in a sitcom of this type. And, although Vicki had superhuman powers (she could lift a grown man off the ground with 1 hand), she was also very relatable because somehow she was always able to do something sentient in every ep.

The star of the show was Tiffany Brissette, in the title-role. Tiffany played the robot-child perfectly because she was so real, or should I say unreal in each and every ep. Dick Christie and Marla Pennington were the parents, and Jerry Supiran was...

SMALL WONDER PLEASE!
I loved the show Small Wonder and have been waiting to see ot come out on dvd. This is a show I can watch with my own daughter since it was a great family show. Please bring out on dvd!!!

Hellhounds: Maneater Series

This movie is good...
I don't know where one gets that Lou Diamond Phillips is in this, because he isn't. However the storyline is set as it is in the old myths...The bride is poisoned on her wedding day by the main character's rival and he goes into Haedes to bring her soul back. They fight ***yes Hellhounds*** and such along the way, and it does have a lot of action in it. Yes, there are gory scenes so it's not for the kiddies...If you remember the song "Don't Pay the Ferryman" from the '80's you will have a good idea what myth that this film originates from. The acting was well done in it, and I enjoyed seeing Ben Cross in this one. He played the part of the king well. I guess the other reviewer didn't get into it because he didn't get the plot. Those of you who are into the Greek Mythology and such will like it, I think...Rick Schroder did an excellent job directing these actors too. There was no overacting. The make up and costumes were good as well.

Greek tragedy
If you look at the cover of Hellhounds, you will see three - count 'em, THREE - devil dogs. And understandably, if one were to watch a film about monstrous dogs, one might consider a pack of dogs to at least consist of three if not more of them. When it comes to Hellhounds, one would be wrong.

But I'm getting ahead of myself. You may be familiar with the tale of Persephone of Hades, wherein an innocent demigoddess is abducted by Hades to become his queen. Demeter, Persephone's mother and personification of Mother Nature, was outraged enough to plunge the world into eternal winter. Hermes was sent to the underworld to retrieve her, but Hades tricked Persephone into eating pomegranate seeds which bound her forever to the underworld. Zeus split the difference so that Persephone shuttles between the two realms, which is why we have the changing seasons when Demeter mourns for her missing daughter (winter) and rejoices upon her return (summer). You can find all of this out by...

ONE FOR THE DOGS
The MANEATER franchise hits rocl bottom with this laughably bad film. Actor Rick Schroder directs with little imagination and the effects lame. The cast including a quasi-cameo from Ben Cross is ineffective to be kind. Also for supposedly immortal pups, the titular characters die pretty easily. The hellhounds are also seen sparingly.
While previous MANEATERS aren't classics, they were entertaining...sadly, HELLHOUNDS isn't.

Thomas & Friends: High Speed Adventures

Review from www.firrkids.com
I think you just can't go wrong with Thomas & Friends. The programs always contain positive messages, they are wholesome in nature and yet still exciting enough for children to enjoy. There are always great lessons in that the characters make the same types of mistakes that everyone is prone to make. We see the consequences from being in a hurry or just plain fooling around, becoming jealous of others or lying to cover up mistakes.

These episodes feature the new CG animation, which means better facial expressions for the trains and townspeople. As always, the same great life lessons of discovery, friendship and cooperation are most certainly included.

In Thomas and the Billboard, Thomas becomes upset when he is inadvertently excluded from a photo taken of all the trains. Although it was a genuine mistake by the photographer, Thomas heatedly blames another train, which causes a whole new set of problems.

Steady Eddie refers to Edward, one of the older...

Love the new Thomas series
This DVD is a new series where Thomas and every characters are animated. It's pretty neat to see them animated and move more than just their eyes and their mouth expressions. PBS started playing these episodes and I'm glad they are finally out on DVD for when we travel. My 4 year old LOVES Thomas and I have to admit I was pretty excited when these episodes came out on tv too.

My Preschool Class Loves this movie
I bought this movie for my 3 year old son. At first he was not happy about "talking thomas" and wanted to watch an old Thomas movie. The next day he asked to watch "talking thomas" and enjoys watching it every time now.
I am also a preschool teacher, and for a special treat on Fridays we watch a movie. I brought in this movie to watch, every single boy I have LOVED it and always ask me if we can watch "Talking Thomas" for movie day.

I was excited to see the new version of the Care Bears, more modern. The show has lessons on caring and sharing. Real cute. Look it up on CBS, they have clips of the show for preview.

I give this DVD 4 STARS. This is my first Care Bears DVD and they are so cute, it's almost hard to criticize them at all. The stories are wholesome, cute and fun, although not as educational as some of the other shows for this age group. There were a lot of previews before the show starts. Episodes are: Growing Pains, King Grumpy, Cheer, There & Everywhere, A Case of the Grumpies, Gobblebugs, Grizzle-ized, Two of a Kind, and Stand Up and Cheer. My daughter seems to like it (she's 2). Overall happy with the purchase!

Halo Legends (Two-Disc Special Edition)

NOT a game, these are stories
I'm going to try to give as spoiler-free of a review as possible.

I've been apprehensive of Halo Legends since it was announced, and was nervous with the crazy Japanese getting a hold of the franchise. When a few stories were put up on Waypoint, however, my concerns were diminished. Seeing that Frankie (Frank O'Connor) had control over what was being done in Legends, it led me to give credence to what I was once doubtful of. And I've read all novels, blogs, BWUs, and played each game so much that there is little I don't know.

Yes, there are quivering eyes, men with jaws too wide open, cheesy mid-action posing shots, and a couple other cliched anime items that slipped in, but if you look past these and accept them as artistic interpretation, you can see what is underneath and really appreciate the stories. Elite's losing a pair of mandibles and seeing a female elite in the context of 'the Duel' chuckling like a school girl was probably the worst moment of this...

Some Solid Sections, Others Not So Great
Halo Legends is a film that follows in the footsteps of the Batman: Gotham Knight film that was recently released. It is a compilation of sub-stories created within an overall film, but with each sub-story or section being created by a different artist. This can create a great viewing experience, seeing how it allows the viewer to see different artists' rendering of beloved characters such as Batman and Master Chief. Did Halo Legends pull it off as well as Batman: Gotham Knight did? Not really. It had some excellent sections, while others left a lot to be desired.

Halo Legends is a compilation of seven short stories, created by various artists throughout the anime/cartoon world. Some of these sections are done beautifully, truly resembling the anime that the original creator is associated with, but with a Halo twist thrown in.

-Origins: Origins is a great way to open up the film. These sections talk about the Forerunners who originally fought off the Flood...

Thematically a Mixed Bag
Several other reviewers have gone through and related their thoughts on each of the shorts contained in Halo: Legends. This is certainly a valid method, and helpful to the practical buyer who simply wishes to get a general idea of whether or not the product suits him/her. I would like to take a different approach. I will divide the episodes into thematically similar groupings, and analyze them from that standpoint.

Origins, parts I and II, is historical. It is essentially a condensed version of the history of the Halo Universe.

Odd One Out is an attempt at comedy, plain and simple. Whether you as the viewer find it humorous or not will likely depend on your...sense of humor. Not being averse to the Japanese penchant for the ridiculous, I did find portions of it to be funny, though it's not comedic genius in the least.

The Package, and The Duel are both what I would consider to be action-oriented shorts, and in that way will likely appeal more to...

LeapFrog: Math Adventure to the Moon

Great video, but probably not for children over 3.
My daughter loves this video because it is fun to watch, but she just turned 3 years old and she pretty much knows almost all of the content that they are trying to teach. They go over simple counting, some shapes, colors, and paterns. The only thing that was new to her was the skip counting. She still loves the video and asks to watch it just about everyday, because she likes the whole space travel concept. Overall a good video. I would recommend it for children under 3 though.

--Adding somthing trivial--

Tad the main character's voice in this video is very annoying. In the other videos he has a cute toddler voice, now he sounds very whiny, kind of like complaining about everything. This is not a knock on the video, but I thought I would mention it.

Educational and fun to watch
My son is two and is counting from 1-10, so I wanted to get a good educational video for him to watch while I am cooking dinner, etc. This was perfect! He also loves the idea of outer space, and blasting off to the moon, so that was a definate bonus. He has watched this numerous times in the last week since it arrived, and after only seeing it once asked to watch it again the next night. He had a friend over this weekend who loved watching it as well, and he tends to be a little more picky about what he watches, so that says a lot. It has everything, from beginner counting, to adding, to patterns, so it will be around for several more years in our household. Plus Amazon had this item for $5 cheaper than another site, and you can't beat that! If you are looking for something educational that will keep your youngster entertained, then this is perfect.

Fun and educational
This movie introduces a bunch of basic math concepts, including counting (regular and by 2's, 5's, and 10's), number recognition, patterns, sorting, etc. My 3 1/2 year olds really enjoy it, and I think each time they watch the movie, they pick up a little more.

Beyond Sherwood Forest

Robin Hood for a new generation
My expectations were low for this film, but it was really very good.

Fair warning, if you only enjoy movies about legends and medieval settings that are 100% historically accurate then you are simply going to hate this movie.

Sorry, it cannot be helped.

Move along, move along, there is nothing to see here for you.

For those of you that enjoy a romp outside firmly bounded, scripted interpretations of legendary themes, press on!

"Beyond Sherwood Forest" is a play on the traditional Robin Hood tale, except that Robin's father is killed by Malcolm (played by Julian Sands) while the Sheriff and his men are out hunting a dragon.

It turns out that the dragon is a lycanthrope played by Katharine Isabelle. Malcolm captures the woman and keeps her imprisoned for thirteen years.

Julian Sands does a fantastic job as the evil Sheriff of Nottingham. What Sands does with a glance would take many actors three pages of...

12th Century "Sanctuary"
I watched this on the SYFY Channel and wasn't expecting anything profound. I was correct in that assessment but I found in quite enjoyable nonetheless.
Although I didn't care for the killing off of Friar Tuck I thought it had its interesting takes on the Robin Hood mythos. Robin Dunne was adequate as Robin of Locksley and Erica Durance made an adventurous Marian.
I think a larger budget could have made the scenery more convincing but I understand in this day that money is tight.
Over all, i was satisfied with this made for TV straight to DVD movie.

Silly fun
This SciFi Channel version of the Robin Hood tale is silly and cheesy, but fun nonetheless. My first thought while watching this movie was "Why?" However, I found myself stuck to the end. True blue to it's TV fantasy, B movie genre, the effects are cheesy, the dialogue is fluff and the story is utterly unbelievable. If you are looking for an evening of quality entertainment walk away, but for a mindless guilty pleasure, look no further. Shh I won't tell.

Claymore: The Complete Series [Blu-ray]

Fianlly, Claymore Gets the Box Set Treatment it Deserves
I'll come right out and confess it; there is much to be excited about when an anime company like FUNimation decides to release a beloved franchise in a single complete collection box set. Not only does it save the buyer money but it makes a given property much more accessible to viewers who would otherwise be reluctant to track down half a dozen volumes to enjoy the show in it's entirety. Enter Claymore the Complete Series, a property of which I've long been campaigning for a complete box set release. The show, which is really unlike any other anime series out there, has been released to the North American market thus far in a pace that could only be described as "trickling" as in six, 4-episode releases that each ran 95 minutes. I've got them all but won't lie about waiting impatiently for each release to come out so that the story could continue.

Coming in at a total runtime of 650 minutes, Claymore The Complete Series release contains all 26 episodes across 6 discs...

Mature Anime with Sweeping Vision
Claymore is a series for the more serious anime watcher; I think that should be stated first and foremost. There is no jarring change from the plot with ultimately wasteful filler meant to make you laugh nor is there any comedy involved in the series. It is a very good series to start an adult on if you have a friend who is interested in anime and wants both the plot aspect and the violence that comes from the more mature fare. It is the blending of these two factors, along with the fantastic artistic style of this series that makes it so successful in appealing to both the male and female audience.

Claymore does not start gradually, but it builds to a maturity of storyline that should be envied by other animes that attempt to blend the typical violence of a storyline revolving around combating demons, monsters, or other evil forces and balance it with serious dialogue and characters. Claymore is not a cliché series in any way.

The story starts out...

Can't wait for the blu-ray...
I watched this entire series on DVD via Netflix, and absolutely loved it. I held off on actually buying it, though, with the hopes that a blu-ray version would stroll along. And whattaya know, here it is. The animation quality on this series is already fantastic, and I can't wait to see it in HD (though, as always, it's questionable just how much cel animation can be enlivened by high definition).

A couple of general notes about the series:

1. It's ultra-violent and not very hopeful, so otaku parents, be aware before you show your kids (though I will say it could be quite empowering for young girls).

2. If you enjoy this, try Berserk. The story and characters are way different, but the dark medieval fantasy environment is the same (still need that on blu-ray, though...).

3. Funimation, as always, does an excellent job with the english dub, but the original japanese is still superior.

4. If you've finished watching all the anime...

Miss Congeniality / Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous (Comedy Double Feature) [Blu-ray]

The Films that restarted William Shatner's Career
Sandra Bullock's Grace Hart is one of the best character's she ever created. This semi tough FBI agent with a heart of gold is very well expressed in these both Miss Congeniality films.

William Shatner is rediscovered and restarted in these films as the had been (Bert Parks like) MC . He acts the straight man for the humor around him and it works.

In the first film, Hart is sent in to the Miss USA beauty contest to protect the other gitl's and save the day. Benjamin Bratt plays her FBI partner. Micheal Caine is the groomer who makes her from FBI agent to Beauty Queen> Candice Bergan is the show organizer. (Boston Legal fans note, this film was FIRST!)

The second film, Grace who has become an FBI press darling, because everyone knows her from the USA contest and she can not go undercover. She has written a book and goes on press tours showcasing the NEW FBI. She is saddled with a partner who does not like her and comedy tensions ensue. Miss USA and the...

Great movies, looks great on blu-ray
These movies are both very guilty pleasures of mine and always have been ever since they came out. I have to admit that I wasn't really expecting it to have the greatest picture quality, but since I got a great deal I thought I'd give it a go. I was wrong, the movie looked a lot better on blu-ray than I expected. Sure it's not the best looking one out there, but it's definitely worth getting.

Misleading Aspect Ratio
DVD description states "Widescreen"; however, that is for only the 1st movie. The 2nd movie is in horrible full screen/pan & scan. Would have been nice if this had been stated in the Product Details, for I would not have bought the collection.

Gilda Live

Excellent movie..dont buy from these sellers!!
The sellers on amazon are charging double the price if not more for this great film. Go to [...] and get it for 19.99 and they ship it UPS for free!! Its made on demand and may not play on some players esp. the ones with recorders built in but it plays fine on "play only" devices. Its in widescreen and the picture looks as bright and clean as it did back when it showed in the theaters in 1980. Still just as funny as it was back then!! Gilda radner was a truly talented woman whose life was cut way short when she died of cancer and her smile and humor live on in this film!!

review of original VHS
If you want to understand how seminal and ground-breaking the original SNL cast was, you have to look at the best of the individual players. They were all funny, but Gilda Radner was hilarious, touching, heart-breaking and brilliant. There will never be another like her.

The first cast of SNL was also, in many ways, the first generation to have grown up on TV. Like the kids who grew up with computers, they instinctively understood that TV was its own medium, with its own rules and traditions; it wasn't a movie screen in your living room any more than a computer is a TV that you type on.

And so, they understood what limits to push and what resonated with the generation they shared a time-space with. Gilda was the most sensitive of the bunch...she knew us: she shared our secrets; she knew our deepest fears and our finest hopes. If you can listen to "Honey, Touch Me (with My Clothes On)" without weeping for a lost time gone by, you're either a cold fish or from...

Classic Gilda
I was beyond thrilled to find this Gilda Radner DVD! What a talent this lady was, and this is classic comedy!

Wrong Side of Town

Average Straight-To-Video Action Flick
Wrong Side of Town is your typical straight to DVD action flick, with a handful of people cast just to appeal to different audiences.

The plot is predictable, and almost identical to the 1985 Schwarzenegger film Commando. Ex-military toughguy leaves the service, gets into it with the wrong guys, and has to rescue his kidnapped daughter. The movie's dialogue is awkward and tries too hard to be funny, and too many aspects of the plot don't make any sense.

Rob Van Damn, cast as Navy Seal turned landscape architect Bobby Kalinowsky, does a sub-par acting job. Fellow wrestler Dave Batista easily steals the show as Big Ronnie, Kalinowsky's former war buddy. Batista's screen presence is simply much better, had he been cast in the lead role instead, I'd be giving this movie a much higher rating. Despite being front and center on the DVD cover, Batista really doesn't get much screen time, which is a shame since he's easily a more natural actor than most professional...

Wrong Van Damme is more like it
Out on the town with his wife and new neighbors, Bobby (Rob Van Damme) relies on his Navy Seal skills to sidestep a knife-wielding, coked-up wannabe named Ethan who falls on his knife. Ethan's brother just happens to be connected to organized crime. If only he were affiliated with a glee club or performance arts society. A $100K hit is placed on RVD's head, mostly for his poor acting...and not being JCVD.

Expecting great acting from a film that has a wrestler as the lead is unfair. And to be quite honest, he's not really that bad all things considered. Probably on par with Keanu Reeves. Either way, RVD and Batista still do a better job than Ja Rule and Omarion. Besides, it's the action that actually bugs me. The filming and lighting don't help; the combination accentuates the worst aspects of the poorly staged fights, making the moves look like fight scenes from The Warriors. But without the roller skates, makeup, and baseball bats. Choppy choreography, can you...

"Who's the meathead now?!"
I'm a pro wrestling mark, but I have to admit that films starring our favorite superstars are a dime a dozen these days. Films *directed* by wrestlers are another matter, but while I'm glad that David DeFalco seems to be distancing himself from the exploitation torture porn business, his contribution here means very little. Even with two of the business' biggest stars in tow, "Wrong Side of Town" is a forgettable little action-thriller much in the same vein as a lot of the other dreck I've recently reviewed. Absolutely nothing special.

The plot: when ex-Navy SEAL Bobby Kalinowsky (Rob Van Dam) kills the brother of a sadistic gangster (Jerry Katz, Knucklehead), he and his family must fear retaliation in the form of a $100,000 price placed on his head.

The film is the victim of false advertising. Get David Bautista and Ja...

Give A Girl A Break

really brialliant dance numbers!
i think this film, Give a Girl a Break," is very good, and the choreography alone in it, makes it well worth watching. Debbie Reynolds does some lovely dance numbers. Also Marge and Gower Champion really shine in this film and in my opinion do some of their best dance numbers in it. It doesn't have the most interesting plot, bt is worth it for the song and dance. I think any fan of 50's musicals would enjoy it. It's colorful and a fun film to watch. I have to nore, the costumes are first rate, some of the lovliest I've seen in musicals.

Stanley Donen's fine follow up to "Singin in the Rain".
"Give a Girl a Break" was Stanley Donen's first film after "Singin in the Rain." It features a rare opprotunity to see director Bob Fosse dance on film. His numbers with Debbie Reynolds are the highlights of the film.

Definitely worthwhile
While this film does not stand up to many classic movie musicals, it is a definite must for anyone with a fondness for Debbie Reynolds or Bob Fosse. Absolutely worth owning.

Thomas & Friends: Railway Friends

Highly recommend, but....
How cute this is! Thomas and all the other trains actually talking! My son was absolutely nuts, but here is a problem that I need to warn all of the parents. The Thomas & Friends DVD's have several stories which is what my son expected (he is 5 y.0.) This is just ONE story and the bonus story has nothing to do with Thomas, but a race car. My son had the biggest tantrum because he couldn't understand why was it only one story and the bonus story was about a car! So do not expect a bunch of little Thomas & Friends stories like the other DVD's. It's one story.

railway friends
I bought this video for my grandson who is 3 and who simply loves Thomas the tank engine and just loves Trains in general. The animated thomas video, Railway friends is Great!!!!
its so nice to see the people move and talk and the train faces have expressions. He loves it. he loves the animation. we have to watch it everyday. I highly recomend this dvd for that thomas fan in your home!

Thomas Talks- your son will LOVE this~
My son talked about wanting "Thomas Talks" for about a week nonstop before I finally figured out what he was begging me to buy him! This video is different from all the other Thomas videos because of the animation, the trains mouths actually move when they are "talking". My son watches this video almost every single night at bed time ( 30 min tv time ). HE LOVES IT~

Corner Gas: Season One

Marvelously funny
Corner Gas is set in Dog River, Saskatchewan, a little town in the middle of nowhere. Centered around the local gas station owned by writer and star Brent Butt (no, that's not a typo), the show is about Brent, his friends and family, and the people of Dog River.

And it is one of the funniest shows I've ever seen.

Corner Gas was introduced to me as a Canadian Seinfeld. This has elements of truth. The humor is somewhat similar in style and the story in each episode is as much a frame upon which to hang jokes as an actual mechanim for plot. These similarities aside, Corner Gas is unique, mixing original jokes and off-the-wall characters. If you're not laughing after Brett and his dad start arguing over the introduction of video rentals to the gas station in the very first episode, hit yourself on the head and watch the episode again. You're missing something. As the season continues, it is a pleasure to watch the characters grow. By the end of season I, you'll be...

Unique Canadian Humour
While the setting is purely small-town Canada, the humour is universal. Episode 6 has to be my favourite, with all the double-meanings and play on words. Brent Butt is hilarious in a subdued way and the rest of the cast are brilliant. They really work well together. It's nice to watch something genuinely funny that doesn't insult one's intelligence and doesn't have to resort to toilet-humour to get laughs. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a good laugh and wanting some insight into refreshing Canadian humour that all can relate to.

Best sitcom on TV, Canadian or American
I was exposed to this wonder when I lived in Canada for a couple of months. I absolutely fell in love with it. As a American who misses the glory days of sitcom tv this show brings back the good old Seinfeld days. My husband and I have since purchased seasons 1 & 2 and are eagerly awaiting season 3. We have shown them to family in the states and everyone we have shown has fallen in love too and ordered their own copies. I recommend this purchase!!!

Maria-Holic: Complete Collection

Maria-Holic Complete collection
This is yet another niche anime show that sentai films is releasing with only subtitles with the original Japanese audio. In this series we have a girl by the name Kanoko who transfers to an all girls private school because of here phobia with boys to the point where she actually breaks out in hives. She is also hoping to meet her destined partner in life, just like here parents. Except she is not looking to fall in love with a male teacher, like her mother. Upon her arrival she meets the most popular freshman in the school, and after a few moments of talking with her, she feels that she is the right type of woman for her. There is only one problem, Mariya is a cross-dressing sadistic male.

This show is what I consider to be another masterpiece by Shaft, the visuals are a work of art. the character drawing are compelling, and the story, may not be that original, but it draws you in and makes you keep watching. And at some point you might even feel sorry for Kanoko, but only...

Stylishly fun, unusual and quirky! "Maria Holic - The Complete Collection" is definitely unique and creative!
In Jan. 2009, the 12-episode anime television series "Maria-Holic" began airing in AT-X in Japan. Adapted from the manga series by Minari Endo ("Dazzle", "Hatenko Yugi") for the Japanese seinen manga magazine, "Monthly Comic Alive" back in 2006, the anime series was produced by SHAFT ("Hidamari Sketch", "Mahou Sensei Negima!", "He is My Master") and directed by Akiyuki Shinbo ("Hidamari Sketch", "Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha", "Bakemonogatari") and series composition by Masahiro Yokotani ("PoPoLoCrois", "Himawari!", "Sgt. The Neverending Story

"He is very close, listening to every word we say."
In 1994, Wolfgang Petersen directed the film adaptation of the German novel "Die Unendliche Geschichte", which was written by Michael Ende (1929-1995). The film/novel is better known in the U.S. with its English title of "The Neverending Story". It was also the first film that Wolfgang Petersen filmed in English. The story begins with a troubled boy named Bastian (Barret Oliver), who is being raised by his father (Gerald McRaney). An avid reader with an active imagination, Bastian walks into a used bookstore owned by Mr. Koreander (Thomas Hill) and finds a mysterious book that captures his curiosity. Mr. Koreander seemingly doesn't want to sell the book to him, but Bastian manages to run from the store with book in hand. Bastian takes the book to school with him, where he is tormented by three bullies (Drum Garrett, Darryl Cooksey & Nicholas Gilbert). To avoid the bullies, Bastian finds refuge in a rarely-used attic within the school and begins to read from the book about a...

An answer to the big question.....
Just in case anyone is wondering, as one reviewer did, the name that Bastien yells out the window at the end of the movie is "Moonchild". My wife happened upon a book version of the story, and it is spelled out there. It is very difficult to understand him in the film, but if you listen carefully, he yells it out in 3 syllables -- "Moon---chi---uld!!!" As for the movie, it's nothing short of a classic. I revisited this movie recently, having not seen it since I was young, when it was my favorite movie. I was struck by some logical inconsistencies (Why is Atreiu the only hope? Aren't there some grown-up Plains warriors who would fare better? Why can't he take his bow and arrow??) But that's the cynical adult in me talking. The movie has such terrific effects and the puppets are incredible. Both the Luck Dragon and the Rock Biter look more real than the digital characters in recent movies.
And as for Bastien's "wish" at the end of the movie.....it's...

The Book and Movie can coexist
Like so many other reviewers, I watched this as a small child. My kindergarten teacher just loved it. At the time, I found it horrible, dark and scary. (I was a VERY wimpy movie watcher, Raiders of the Lost Ark sent me into hysterics)

Years later, I decided to bite the bullet and try it again. I found it to be a lovely pure fantasy with (for the time) great special effects and good music. Let's face it, you either love electronic fantasy scores or you hate them, there's no real middle ground.

That said, I do think that this movie is too scary for small children, parents should use their own experience and knowledge to decide when their child is ready. (That is what the PG means)

This is the tale of a sensitive child who finds himself being absorbed into the magical book he is reading, called the Neverending Story. (That is where the movie gets its name, the story is different for each person, thus it never ends. There was no ripoff) Dragons, monsters and beautiful images dance...

Dr. Quinn, Medicine: The Complete Season Two (Slim Packaging)

Perscription For Your Viewing Enjoyment...Dr Mike!
This review refers to "Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman - The Complete Season 2" DVD edition by A&E...

Season 2 is a 7 disc set with over 21 hours of some of the best television ever offered. In this season Dr. Mike, Sully and the rest of the town tackle some serious subjects. And, they do it in a way that may be viewed by the whole family, and each story will touch you emotionally in some way. "Dr. Quinn" offers lessons in life, love, cultural differences, and history in a most entertaining fashion.

Along with the heartwarming stories of love and family, that we have come to love, Season 2 delves into issues that were relevant then, and some are still relevant today. Matthew's gambling addiction, spousal and child abuse, drug addiction, union strikes, the mistreatment of the Indian tribes, and racism as the KKK makes a terrifying appearance in Colorado Springs putting Robert E and Grace's lives at stake. Other story lines will take you right through the holidays...

Great Set--Quality Television
In this season of Dr. Quinn, Sully and Michaela discover their feelings for each other. Great romance, great history, great show! I especially love the two-hour episode, "Where the Heart Is." Sully travels to Boston to tell Dr. Quinn he loves her. <sigh> This set is a perfect gift for hopeless romantics like me who have no life. Quality television like this just doesn't exist anymore. I can't wait for Season 3!

One of the GREATEST Shows!!!
I think this show is just magnificent. Everything about it is just magical. Even though she was not cast until last minute, Jane Seymour was just the PERFECT lead actress as Dr. Mike Quinn. I just finished the second season a few nights ago and am just being bored out of my mind because there aren't any good shows on TV anymore. I can't wait until the third season comes out. This series was one of the best ever to be created. It had some of the best acting ever, and even the children did great work. Every character had a chance to show what they were capable of and could accomplish. This show is not just for old people; it's a show for all ages and could be watched with the entire family. I'm only a fifteen year old and still find it quite fascinating.

The DVDs themselves were also great. The quality of the picture is simply perfect and much better than some of the episodes from the first season. The sound is about the same. All seven discs come in pretty cool...

Adam-12: Season Four

A Welcome Fourth Season from Adam 12
Shout factory has done a fantastic job in their releases of Seasons 2 and 3 of Adam 12 (Universal did season 1). The picture quality is crisp, sharp, clear and with excellent color - no fading or worn picture. The audio is clear. Packaging consists of a nice outer box with two slim plastic holders containing 2 DVD's each. The DVD's are one sided. There have been some nice additional features that Shout has put together for the releases.

This is one of my favorite police dramas of all time. It gives a nice glimpse into the police work of the very late 60's and the first half of the 70's). This season marks a newer looking police car for Reed and Maloy (not a big deal - just an observation). They switch from a 1968/69 Plymouth Belvedere to a 1971 Plymouth Satellite. The final three seasons (seasons 5-7) saw a third car, an AMC Matador. As always, expect high moral values and integrity from these police officers (something that marked each of Jack Webb's biggest hits...

"A-12/CLASSIC COPS AT THEIR BEST"
"this is an all-time favorite "police drama", especially among fans who(like myself) watched this show as a kid, & we saw the men in blue, as we would like them to be.today's "cop shows" are major disapointments; these shows did'nt have 12 or 13 sub-plots, just 30 mins. of dramatic entertainment at it's best!"

Another outstanding job by Shout!
This show is a gem. I've enjoyed every season, including season 1, although the quality before Shout took over production left something to be desired. The chemistry between the two leads is very believable and while it did come out of Jack Webb's factory (just the facts) you really feel like you know what makes Malloy and Reed tick. It's like finding a wonderful time capsule that spotlights late '60s/early '70s Los Angeles. I remember loving this show as a kid so when it came out on DVD I've waited for each release. If you're a fan of classic TV you will not be disappointed. There are also quite a few guest appearances by faces you will no doubt recognize. Keep 'em coming!

Ghost Hunters: Season Five, Part One

GH Season 5 Part 1
I'm a big fan of TAPS, and there are some great investigations in this group. Jason and Grant are my favorite ghost hunters because they approach ghost hunting from a more scientific point of view, trying to find real world explanations for the things that go bump in the night. If it's not the heater vents in the basement or a clock giving off a high EMF that is causing people to be creeped out, only then do they entertain the possibility that it may in fact be something paranormal. Although this group of episodes doesn't have some of their most compelling investigations, it is a great addition to my collection.

My Final Ghost Hunters purchase
Season Five, Part One is the fifth Ghost Hunters DVD I own. And unfortunately it's also the last.
For me, there are two major problems with Ghost Hunters 5, Pt 1 : first, the production format has become incredibly formulaic and dull, and second, unfortunately there's just not enough paranormal activity to keep me interested. The second problem is no one's fault - and let's face it, it's preferable that the show appears to be legit and doesn't resort to fabrications. But unfortunately the show has become stagnant. The formula of every show is identical and goes something like this: Chris Williams phones Jay and Grant to tell them about some amazing new case; cut to Jay and Grant sitting in the GH office with Chris going into more detail about the case; cut to Jay and Grant saying something like "OK let's get the team together and go check it out"; cut to shot of team loading the van; cut to dashboard shots of team traveling to allegedly haunted location with Jay asking Chris to...

Good for diehard fans.
I love this show, and have the entire series on DVD and was understandably excited for the 5th season to come out. However, I was pretty disappointed when I received this in the mail. For one, it is only 3 DVDs, as opposed to the past few half-seasons which are 4. Secondly, there is NO "PLAY ALL" option on the DVDs. Once you watch an episode, it goes back to the main menu. This is a major pain in the butt. It also seems production of the DVDs this time around was bare bones. On the main menu, you get the episodes, deleted scenes, and the option to have subtitles (admittedly, that's awesome, and it's about time). But there's none of the fun "extra investigations" from before, and the fact that they're no longer investigating peoples' homes is a little disappointing as well. In summary, if you're a diehard fan of the show, I recommend this set just to have it. If you're new to the show, try buying some of the earlier seasons instead.

The Universe: The Complete Season Four

The 4th season is a little disappointing
The first three seasons of this show were really much better than the fourth season. In the fourth season they have gone much more
into speculation and sensationalism with much less real science.
Still, it is interesting and worth watching, just don`t expect too much from it.
Call it three and a half stars.

Widescreen Finally!!!
I owned the first three seasons of this EPIC series on dvd and had been disappointed by the double black bars (fullscreen letterbox) presentation of this series. A quick fix was to change your zoom settings on your set or player, but this fix was quite awful in what seems to be lower than a 480i resolution.

This product on Blu-ray is awesome, it contains all 12 episodes of season 4 plus additional never-aired segments presented on 3 Blu-ray discs.
Episodes include:
(Disc 1) Death Stars, The Day the Moon was gone, It fell from Space, Biggest Blasts
(Disc 2) The Hunt for Ringed Planets, 10 Ways to Destroy The Earth, The Search for Cosmic Clusters, Space Wars
(Disc 3) Liquid Universe, Pulsars and Quasars, Science Fiction/Science Fact, Extreme Energy.
Bonus features include; Meteors: Fire in the Sky, Comets: Prophets of Doom.

The Blu-ray release of this series is truly wonderful in full 1920x1080 HD. This is a true widescreen release. The...

No joy for your HDTV!
Imagine that you work for the History Channel. Suppose that your job is to put together a DVD set for season four of one of your prestige shows; one that looks great on your HD network and really serves to highlight what an excellent network you have.

If you were this person doing this job would you:

A: Release this DVD set as anamorphic, so that when people watch it on their 47" screen the image takes up all the screen and looks spectacular.

B: Release this DVD as non-anamorphic so that either people have to see a stretched version where all the planets are ovals instead of spheres (which they aren't actually, but that's another issue), or they have to watch it both letterboxed and pillarboxed in order to see everything in the correct aspect ratio?

If you selected B, I think the folks at History might have a job opening for you.

"The Universe", the TV show, looks great when it airs on History HD and is really entertaining and...

Celestial Navigations: Short Films of Al Jarnow

Amazing!
This DVD is amazing. That's pretty much all I can say. The films vary in subject and theme and are fun and silly and epic and contemplative and hypnotizing... I went through a phase where I watched this almost every night, and have seen it more times than I would like to admit. It's all brilliant stuff. It's also fun to turn off the sound and watch the visuals against your favorite music...

Happy Animated Childhood Memories
This DVD represents a huge body of work from the extraordinary animator, Al Jarnow. For children growing up in the 1970's (like myself) many of these short films were familiar staples on "Sesame Street" and "321 Contact" PBS shows. Jarnow's films deal with time, space, light and form, presented in an amusing way, that will delight all ages. My favorite film, "Face" creates a stop-motion life-sized portrait of Abraham Lincoln using a series of black dots on white paper, placed by children. Another favorite, "Cosmic Clock" animates the evolution of a place in sped-up time. This film is a real gem from the pre-computer animation era!

Apocalypse How

Possible End of World Scenarios Reviewed
I'm a devoted disaster movie buff and will watch most anything devoted to world-wide destruction. While most of the movies in that genre are rather poor there are sometimes those that manage to work in a reasonable human interest story to supplement the destruction; this is not one of those, it is a sort of documentary of rather well known "end of the world as we know it" theories.

I did find it interesting enough to watch it all the way through but will probably not watch it again. There were really no new thoughts presented which made it much more of a review than a revelation. I suggest this one be viewed on streaming video before buying; perhaps you will enjoy it enough to buy the DVD.

END OF TIME
The documentary was very turgidly portrayed. Could have been completely told in about 30 minutes. The black hole segment sounded a bit farfetched.

Its really just narrative
I hoped for dramatic graphic enactments of what might happen. Not the case. Also, the narrative attempts to strike fear or drama by suggesting that these event are likely, but they make terrible assumptions.

Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan: Season 4, Vol. 1

Volumes explanation?
I did some research at the [...] site on the Dog Whisperer show. It contains all of the episodes by season. I assume that season 4 is divided into two volumes since there were 37 episodes. Looks like season 5 will be heading in that same direction. 37 episodes in a season is impressive!

Season 1: 26 episodes
Season 2: 20 episodes
Season 3: 18 episodes
Season 4: 37 episodes
Season 5: 33 episodes as of 03/12/2010

Cesar is a miracle worker! My dog started as "Cujo"
I started watching Caesar's shows and videos and reading his books when I bought a puppy that turned into a total red-zone the day I brought him home at 8 weeks. No one could work with him. I had trained all my own dogs and nothing I did was working. He was like Cujo. He looked like he had rabies at the groomers. Anyone else probably would have sent him back BUT I watched Caesar's shows and saw the confidence he dislpayed that all dogs could be helped. I started trying his methods and saw an immediate result. I watched every show (even the ones that seemed to have nothing to do with my problem) and learned from all of them. Not only did my dog improve (he is wonderful now at 1 year 8 months) but I became a much better person. Caesar's caring and balance come through like a magic potion when you watch him. I even just put them on and watch when I am stressed to balance me. I love the sets of the TV show so I can look through quickly to see all the shows and keep them...

Cesar Millan-Dog Whisperer Has Done It Again!
Just when you think you have become a Pack Leader and learned just about everything you could from Cesar.....you find in Session 4, Vol 1 you haven't.
What is most unique about Cesar is his ability to re-train DOG OWNERS to be the best they can be (and their dogs loving it!)Talk about your moneys worth---17 Episodes in one package of 5 CDs and a Bonus CD (loved the Bloopers, too)
Loved this one so much, I can't wait for Season 5 to see how Cesar is ever going to beat Season 4's excellence! Definitely another Season that has covered all problem areas in ways that are going to provide answers for owner/dog happier than they were before CESAR MIllAN-Dog Whisperer. Bravo Cesar, and thank you.

Clifford's Really Big Movie

great for all ages
For the record, I am over 13 I saw this movie on cartoon network since there was nothing else on. at first i thought it was a stupid idea. five minutes into it,I ended up loving it.I love dogs (i have cairn terrier) the characters are very interesting.(i like the cow) if you are a parent watch this movie with your kid. you will both love it.

Just okay....for very young child
My toddler loves the Clifford PBS series, and I thought she'd like this too....but not as much, turns out! Story is cute, voices are great, but the animation is not the same, and her attention was not as held by this dvd. Maybe for older kids it would be different. Good buy, though!

Our toddler's Favorite
Perfectly sweet and endearing movie starring everyone's favorite Big Red Dog. The story follows Clifford and his friends, Cleo and T-Bone on their adventures as they try to win a talent contest which would bring them a lifetime supply of Tummy Yummies. There are some new and colorful characters that quickly win you over, including Shackelford the High-Flying Ferret and Rodrigo, the Chihuahua of Steel. Together this funny group learn what true friendship and loving dedication is all about. The music is wonderful, the length just long enough not to make kids squirm in their seats. A lovalbe favorite in our home.

Ant Bully

Fun and Delightful!
When we first sat down to view this movie I wasn't sure about it. How good could a movie be about a kid bullying ants; I was in for a wonderful surprise. We meet Lucas who is picked on by a bully himself and seems to take out his revenge on an ant community..why? Because he is bigger.

When the Wizard of the ant community comes up with a portion to shrink Lucas and it is decided he must learn how to live like an ant the fun begins. Lucas soon learns that working together can help you overcome no matter what size you are. It was just a really fun movie and one that my entire family enjoyed. I highly recommend it.

Entertaining, family-friendly movie
My 4.5 year-old preschooler loves "The Ant Bully", and this is one of the few kid movies that I actually enjoy watching with her [we've watched it over 5 times now]. The animation is great, and the story too has a lot to recommend it. The story centers around a young boy, Lucas [Zach Tyler] who is constantly being bullied by an older and bigger neighborhood bully. Lucas in turn vents his anger and frustration on the ant colony in his yard. Typical of animated movies, the ants can 'talk' - there's Zoc [Nicolas Cage] a sort of ant wizard who experiments with a shrinking potion, his girlfriend Hova [Julia Roberts] who believes that "Peanut the Destroyer" aka Lucas is good at heart and that humans and ants can co-exist in peace. Lucas inevitably gets shrunk to ant size [well, a little smaller actually] and is sentenced by the Queen [Meryl Streep] to live and work in the ant colony, learning to 'become' an ant with the hope that Lucas will learn compassion. Over the course of the movie,...

LOved it!
I did not think this movie was going to be that enjoyable. But then when I popped it in to my DVD player, I was suprisingly shocked. I loved every minute of this movie. I thought this movie will be like "ANTZ", but instead it had a different story line. It was funny how Peanut a human boy was transformed in to a little sized ant and had to live an everyday life like ants. I thought that was something different then any other animated cartoon movies. PLus, this movie gave me second thoughts about never demolishing the ant colonies. My mom even loved this movie, so I bet any age will enjoy this movie.

Esther

a woman of courage
Of all the Bible sories, I find the The Book of Esther does not flow as easily as others, but nevertheless, this film based on the story is interesting; it is faithful to scripture, with a few additions to fill out the plot.
Queen Esther is beautifully cast with English actress Louise Lombard (seen in 2004's "Hidalgo"), and Oscar-winner F. Murray Abraham excellent as her cousin and guardian Mordecai.
King Ahasuerus (historically known as Xerxes) is a character I find hard to like; he appears to be an indecisive and capricious man, who puts all his trust in the evil Haman (well played by German actor Jurgen Prochnow). It is Esther who courageously stands up to Haman when he tries to annihilate all the Jews of the land.

The main addition to the story is the inclusion of Ezra as a friend of Mordechai. Ezra was the scribe and priest who led a remnant of the Jewish captives back to Jerusalem, but this would come twenty years later, under the reign of King Artaxerxes,...

I cried, I laughed, I cheered, & exalted!
As a born again Christian, lover of history, beauty, & courage, Esther was such an inspiration to me. A few liberties were taken (ie. God is never mentioned in the Book of Esther, while He is in the movie.) But these liberties actually succeeded in bringing out the meaning of the Biblical story. Some of the acting done by the actors playing the eunuchs was a little stilted, but it also didn't damage the progression of the story. This movie is an excellent teaching tool to get people interested in the Bible. It tells a story of a young woman who is an example for women of all ages. Esther is courageous, honest, graceful, empathetic, & a woman of integrity & dignity. Through her bravery, faith, & wisdom she brought the enemy of her people down & gained the respect & love of her young, impetuous, & immature husband who was a reluctant king. Because of her qualities Esther didn't have to use ruthlessness & vulgarity, or dishonesty to bring down her...

ONE OF THE BEST
I MUST SAY I'M A CRITIC, BUT THIS MOVIE IS REALLY REALLY GREAT!! IT IS SCRIPTUAL AND THE ACTORS DID A GREAT JOB. ESTHER WAS NOT PORTRAYED AS A HOLLYWOOD STAR, BUT AS A JEW. THE KING IS THE COMIC IN THIS MOVIE. I LOVED HIS FIRST MEETING WITH ESTHER, A TRUE ROMANCE. MORDECAI AND ESTHER'S TRUE TEST OF FAITH WILL MAKE YOU LOVE THE STORY MORE. I JUST DISAGREED WITH THE PART OF ESTHER'S ENTRANCE INTO THE COURT TO SPEAK TO THE KING, WHERE HE WAS SUPPOSED TO HOLD OUT THE SCEPTURE TO HER, INSTEAD OF HIM LEAVING HIS THRONE TO MEET AND SPEAK TO HER. WELL PUT TOGETHER FOR THE 20TH CENTURY. WE DON'T SEE MUCH OF THESE BIBLICAL MOVIES NOWADAYS. THEY SHOULD MAKE MORE LIKE THESE AND THE ONES OF TIME PAST, LIKE A.D. TEN COMMANDMENTS, BEN-HER AND JESUS OF NAZARETH. THESE MOVIES MAKE YOU THINK THAT THE ACTORS AND THE SETTINGS PORTRAYED IN THE MOVIE WAS HOW IT REALLY HAPPENED. THESE PRODUCERS SPEND MILLIONS TO MAKE THESE "SO CALLED GREAT MOVIES" WITH NO SENSE AND MORALS. I REALLY WISH...
